Music creates artistic emotions!
Seventh grade…
After reading a very emotional section, and writing a journal entry about the character’s thoughts, feelings, and ideas, students created some abstract art. I played six traditional Afghan pieces of music, and using a variety of mediums (oil pastels, watercolors, and tempera paint) students let the emotion of the music come through their artwork. For over an hour students sat quietly, listening to a variety of pieces, and then expressing what the music was saying. Next week I will mount and display these wonderful pieces. However, here are a few sneak peaks of the artists at work! Enjoy!
